Sand sculptures and music festival draw crowds; Farglory Hotel in Gongliao boasts a blue beach fever

Stepping into Farglory Grand Hotel in Gongliao District, New Taipei City, with its standalone villas, lush greenery, and the sound of waves, you’ll feel like you’ve arrived at an overseas resort villa. In the scorching summer heat, you can also head to Fulong Beach to play in the sand and surf the waves. This year, there’s also an eye-catching sand sculpture festival and music festival, attracting many tourists eager to witness the masterful craftsmanship of the sand sculptors.

With its leisure architecture style inspired by Southeast Asian island vibes, Farglory Grand Hotel in Gongliao District is a high-end seaside villa in northern Taiwan with a distinct tropical flair. Though it has only 54 rooms, it offers diverse vacation experiences. The hotel’s standalone villas are its most attractive feature, providing private entrances and ensuring no mutual disturbance. If you need room cleaning or housekeeping services, staff will arrive by golf cart, making you feel like you’re on a vacation abroad.
The premium blue villas offer a space as exclusive as a noble’s, undisturbed by anyone, with staff even traveling back and forth by golf cart.
Xue Yingde, the executive manager of Fulong Farglory Grand Hotel, said that next to the hotel is the sandy beach of Fulong Beach, where the water is crystal clear and the white, soft sands stretch for kilometers. It is not only hailed as the “Taiwan Blue Coast” but also a sports paradise for trendy activities such as surfing, water skiing, canoeing, parasailing, sailing, and windsurfing.There’s also a nearby sailing club where sports enthusiasts can exchange skills. However, this year, considering the large number of visitors and safety concerns, water facilities such as banana boats and jet skis are temporarily unavailable, though swimming in the sea is still permitted.
There are also plenty of shaded areas available.
Xue Yingde recommends that besides playing in the water and surfing at Fulong Beach, the 2013 Fulong International Sand Sculpture Art Festival is also taking place here and is co-hosted with government agencies for the first time. Themed “Childhood Memories,” the festival invites nine internationally awarded sand sculptors to create 25 works, along with 10 local Taiwanese and mainland Chinese sand sculpting experts who have made 12 pieces. In addition to being breathtaking, there’s also free parent-child sand sculpture DIY teaching on-site, where sculptors interact with visitors to help them create their own sand art.

However, for those who prefer to stay in the hotel, Xue Yingde says the hotel also offers many recreational facilities, such as an L-shaped outdoor pool. The pool features a grand and minimalist design, surrounded by greenery and floral plants, offering unobstructed views of the beautiful blue sky, white clouds, and the sea meeting the horizon. On a good weather day, admiring the starry sky by the poolside offers a unique charm.
