On the bucket list of a lifetime, flying first class is definitely one of them. Since it’s an ultra-luxurious journey that costs quite a bit, you might as well go for the best, right? Ideally, it should have a luxurious bar where you can sip delicious champagne at 30,000 feet, but how do you choose the right one? You’ll need to refer to the expert opinion of American travel guru Gilbert Ott, who has tried first-class flights around the globe. What does he think?

Currently, there are six airlines that offer in-flight bars: Virgin Australia, Korean Air, Etihad Airways, Emirates, Qatar Airways, and Virgin Atlantic. Which three rank highest in Gilbert’s book?

Third place: Etihad Airways – The Lobby

It’s no surprise that Etihad Airways, one of the world’s best airlines, also has one of the best in-flight bars. The Lobby is located between first class and business class, allowing VIPs from both cabins to mingle. It features a large TV, graphic sofas, and charging facilities. Of course, you can also find the most premium and expensive wines here.

Second place: Emirates

The business class cabin on Emirates’ A380 also has an in-flight bar. According to Gilbert, the Emirates cabin bar is stylish and comfortable — a great spot for relaxed conversation, though the seating is a bit smaller. First-class passengers also enjoy exclusive drinks, making for an absolutely luxurious experience.

The in-flight bar that impressed travel expert Gilbert certainly isn’t ordinary. Not only is Qatar Airways’ cabin bar the largest among the six airlines — accessible to both first-class and business-class guests — but it also offers the widest variety of drinks and gourmet food, with plenty of high-end desserts to choose from.
