InMexicoThe Angelita Cenote in Tulum, Mexico, is a popular diving spot. Its underwater world makes you feel as if you’re standing on the banks of a tropical rainforest river. Even more amazingly, you can actually float on this “river.” But how is that possible?

Experts believe that when a limestone cave collapsed, it formed a large sinkhole filled with a mixture of fresh groundwater and saltwater. Due to the decomposition of organic matter within the sinkhole, certain chemicals separate the water into two distinct layers.

As you approach the “river,” you’ll see ghostly mist and dead tree branches.
