Are there classes for boarding? British Airways’ new rules in December: Cheapest tickets, last boarding

British Airways will implement new boarding regulations starting from December. In the future, the boarding number will be added to the boarding pass. Passengers who buy the cheapest tickets will be arranged to board last. British Airways said that this is to simplify the boarding process and make it easier for passengers to understand.

According to reports from foreign media, British Airways will implement a new boarding process starting December 12, dividing passengers into five groups based on ticket class and printing the boarding sequence number on the boarding pass.

Boarding group 1 refers to passengers holding first-class tickets or British Airways Executive Club Gold Card members, who can board first; group 2 includes those with business-class tickets or British Airways Executive Club Silver Card members; group 3 includes those with premium economy tickets or British Airways Executive Club Bronze Card members; group 4 is for economy-class ticket holders, and group 5 is for those who bought the cheapest tickets, which only allow hand luggage—this type of ticket was introduced by British Airways in 2013 to compete with low-cost carriers.

British Airways stated that the new boarding regulations can speed up and simplify the boarding process, while also making it clear for passengers. The airline also said that children or passengers with limited mobility can still board first. In fact, this new boarding policy by British Airways is not the first of its kind; currently, airlines such as American Airlines, Iberia, and Qatar Airways have had similar policies in place for many years.
