An art sanctuary rivaling the Louvre — the pure white floating island museum in Arabia

When it comes to world-class art museums, many people immediately think of France’s Louvre. But art lovers now have a new landmark to visit — the Louvre Abu Dhabi!

Arab countries often give off a strong sense of religious tradition, and their tourist attractions are typically classic and ornate historical buildings. However, the design of the Louvre Abu Dhabi is strikingly futuristic. The museum faced investment issues during construction, which led to delays, and it took a full ten years to complete. It was just inaugurated this past November.

French architect Jean Nouvel opted for an all-white design, with a surrounding water pool that makes the entire museum appear as if it’s floating on the water — truly romantic.

The dome, full of a high-tech feel, is formed by eight layers of intersecting geometric lines, leaving irregular small holes through which light filters in like stars.

Beneath these holes, the play of light and shadow adds a dreamy atmosphere to the museum.

Not only does it boast a stunning design, but the collection at the Louvre Abu Dhabi is also highly impressive. It houses around 600 pieces from the collection of the United Arab Emirates, along with 300 borrowed works from the Louvre in France. Art enthusiasts simply must pay it a visit!
