Soak in cold springs, meet princesses, enjoy music — the Su’ao Cold Spring Cultural Festival keeps you cool this summer

With temperatures soaring, come cool off in the cold springs! The 2013 Su’ao Cold Spring Cultural Festival will take place from July 12 to 14 at Su’ao Cold Spring Park. The event includes a “Cold Spring Water Splash Carnival,” a “Superstar Gala Night,” fun runs, and more, with the added charm of the preliminary-selected “Cold Spring Beauties” making appearances as brand ambassadors.

On the evening of July 12 at 6:30 p.m., there will be a performance by the Lan Yang Dance Troupe. On July 13 at 1 p.m., the “Cold Spring Water Splash Carnival” will be held in front of Su’ao Railway Station, followed by the “Superstar Gala Night” at 7 p.m. featuring performances by singers Yang Lie, Weng Liyou, and Huang Siting. On July 14, there will be fun runs, softball games, and at 1:30 p.m., the highlight of the Cold Spring Season — the finals of the “Cold Spring Princess” competition.

This year’s Su’ao Cold Spring Princess selection saw 15 finalists advance to the finals. The Su’ao Township Office invited the selected beauties to promote the event by wearing bikinis at Cold Spring Park, hoping their firsthand experience of the cool comfort of the cold springs and their endorsements will attract more visitors.

From 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on July 13, the township office will close off Su’ao Railway Station Square and Zhongshan Road for a crazy water fight. On the final day of the event, besides the Cold Spring Princess finals, the organizers have also invited Yilan singer Xie Guoyuan to perform Yilan folk songs. In the evening, the Lan Yang Drama Troupe will stage the annual opera highlight “Mu Guiying” as the grand finale of the cultural festival.
