Working to Conserve Wildlife: Shoushan Zoo Launches Adoption Campaign

Kaohsiung’s Shoushan Zoo has plenty of summer activities, including discounted “Starlight Tickets” for nighttime visits and “Kids’ Happy Summer Vacation” ticket deals, as well as weekly themed nighttime performances and prize quizzes. Additionally, the zoo has introduced the “Big LOVE Animal Adoption” campaign—participants who join the animal adoption program within the first 100 will receive one entry ticket to the Kaohsiung Chengcing Lake Hot Air Balloon Festival, plus prizes worth nearly NT$100,000 in total.

To enhance the welfare of captive animals in the zoo and promote wildlife conservation awareness, along with the launch of the animal adoption initiative, Shoushan Zoo has rolled out the “Big LOVE Animal Adoption” campaign. From now until August 31, anyone who joins the animal adoption program during this period and becomes a Friend of Shoushan Zoo Animals will not only receive an animal adoption card granting unlimited free entry for a year, but will also be invited to exclusive VIP member events at the zoo, with opportunities to win prizes worth over NT$100,000 in total.

Zhang Boyu, director of the Zoo Management Center, explained that the animal adoption program is divided into individual and corporate adoption. Individuals can adopt one species at a minimum donation of NT$500, while companies and organizations can adopt one species at a minimum donation of NT$50,000. All participants who join the adoption program will become Friends of Shoushan Zoo Animals.

In addition to the above benefits, corporate adopters can have their company logo displayed on a thank-you plaque in the zoo, have their logo featured on the zoo’s website throughout the adoption period, and are entitled to co-host one corporate event on zoo premises. The goal is to harness collective efforts to improve the welfare of captive animals and contribute to wildlife conservation. The winners of the “Big LOVE Animal Adoption” lucky draw will be announced on September 5.
