Nation’s First “Two-Tiered” Camping Sites — Neihu Bishan Camping Site Officially Opens

To promote healthy outdoor camping activities, the Taipei City Government has been actively upgrading two camping sites in Neihu Bishan and Beitou Guizikeng. Among them, the Bishan Camping Site, themed around the 12 zodiac signs, was completed and opened on the 9th, offering a multifunctional outdoor camping space. The site also features the nation’s first “two-tiered” camping spots, which are available for free application by the public.

Located in Taipei’s Neihu District, the Bishan Camping Site was upgraded over three years by the Bureau of Urban Development under the Department of Public Works and officially opened on the 9th. Themed around the 12 zodiac signs, the site combines Western-style design with the four elements—fire, water, earth, and the 12 star signs—to create a unique and fun stargazing camping experience. It can accommodate up to 200 people at once and offers two types of camping spots: “cabin-style” and “two-tiered.” The “two-tiered” camping spots are a first in Taiwan. The lower level can be used for setting up tents and staying dry in the rain, while the upper level offers a space to get close to the tree canopy and enjoy scenic views.

The Bishan Camping Site is open from 3:00 PM to 1:30 PM the next day. Reservations can be made online or by phone from two months to one week before the planned camping date, and groups must consist of 20 people or more to register.Additionally, the camping site does not provide rental services for camping equipment such as tents or sleeping bags—all gear must be brought by visitors. Renting a tent costs approximately NT$300 per use, while purchasing a basic sleeping bag costs about NT$500.To prevent forest fires, the use of charcoal fires is prohibited at the Bishan Camping Site. The site is equipped with “green energy restroom” facilities, featuring natural lighting designs, with solar panels installed on the roof to generate electricity for restroom lighting.。
