The Yongkang commercial district in Taipei City is bustling with food options. Recently, the matcha dessert shop"Wagou Kamachi"has rapidly gained popularity online. Despite the hot summer weather, many people are willing to queue up an hour before opening just to enjoy matcha sundaes and various delicate, unique matcha treats.

Wagou Kamachi is located on Jinhua Street in the Yongkang commercial district. Even past the usual lunch hour, the queue outside the shop remains long. According tomatcha enthusiast Ms. Qian, every time she visits, the shop is already fully booked, and she usually has to wait about 20 minutesbefore she can finally enjoy the hard-to-get matcha desserts.

Chen Yurong, media liaison for Wagou Kamachi, said, that the Kyoto-premium matcha powder reflects the owner Wang Boyuan’s dedication to matcha. Combined with his own specially blended ratios, it makes their matcha truly unique.Chen Yurong pointed out that their matcha has a delicate yet rich texture, with fine matcha particles that allow the fragrance to linger on the palate. The shop’s current flagship popular item, the “matcha cheesecake,” features a top layer made with matcha dark chocolate, premium cheese, and digestive biscuits.

The matcha sundae in the shop is also a summer favorite. It features Italian-style Affogato brittle paired with matcha ice cream. Cai, a student who loves Japanese culture, fell in love with it after just one taste—even if it means waiting a long time. Cai said that once the matcha sundae arrives, she can't help but take bite after bite. The heat gradually fades away, and the satisfying crunch of the brittle dipped in matcha ice offers a uniquely delightful texture.

Prices in the shop range between NT$150 and NT$230, with a minimum spend of NT$120. But just thinking about the rich matcha melting in the mouth, paired with sweet yet not cloying, chewy white mochi balls, is enough motivation for Cai to return again.
