According to a Spanish travel website, the town of Juzcar is the official village of the Smurfs. Originally, when Sony Pictures discussed with the town, they only planned to temporarily paint the buildings, but the movie’s impact led the mayor to hold a referendum on whether to keep the blue. In the end, the original color was retained, and many related events and markets have since been held, becoming a local specialty.
Because of the tourists drawn by the movie, the village made a fortune from movie-related business, something the villagers never expected.But why did Sony choose this place?
