Remember how, as a kid, you had to compete with your peers for a turn on the swing at the playground or park? In Ecuador, South America (the Republic of Ecuador), there’s an adult version of the “La Casa del Arbol” swing that challenges your bravery. Back then, when swinging, you’d always ask your parents or friends to give you a big push from behind, all so you could reach the highest point and see as far and wide as possible. But here, just one gentle swing gives you that awe-inspiring feeling of being on top of the world.

In the South American town of Baños, Ecuador, La Casa del Arbol is a treehouse swing perched on the edge of a cliff. This treehouse swing was built by volunteer Carlos Sanchez, who assisted volcano researchers. Initially, he only constructed a regular treehouse to observe the Tungurahua Volcano in Baños. Later, to keep his family entertained during weekend visits, he added the cliffside swing under the treehouse. Thanks to online exposure, it has become widely known and is now a popular local tourist attraction.

Near the bus station in the town of Baños, there are buses that go directly to the treehouse swing La Casa del Arbol, but only three services per day. Upon arrival, you need to pay a $1 USD entrance fee to enter the area. La Casa del Arbol isn’t just home to the thrilling treehouse swing—it also features a vast expanse of lush green lawn and panoramic views surrounded by mountains.Sitting on this swing, located at an altitude of 2,600 meters, not only gives you an adrenaline-pumping sensation of breaking through the sky, but also offers stunning views of a nearby active volcano. When mountain mist rolls in, it feels like you’re riding the clouds.
