EVA Air launches Xining route, becoming the only Taiwanese airline to fly to Qinghai Province

EVA Air/Uni Air today (1st) launched the Taipei Taoyuan–Xining route. To celebrate the new route, a maiden flight ceremony was held at Taoyuan Airport. The new destination extends the airline’s reach into the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau region, making EVA Air the only Taiwanese carrier flying to Qinghai Province. This route will be operated using the brand-new A321-200 aircraft.

Xining is the largest city in Qinghai Province. Its unique geographical location and altitude create a distinctive climate. Summer is the most comfortable travel season here, with average temperatures ranging from 17 to 19°C, offering cool and pleasant weather. Known as the “Summer Capital of China,” Xining is also the starting point of the famous Qinghai-Tibet Railway and a key stop along the Silk Road.

To celebrate the launch of the Xining route, EVA Air/Uni Air and tourism operators have planned rich travel itineraries. They launched the “China Heritage – Direct Flight to Xining, Pilgrimage to Sacred Tibet: Lhasa & Shigatse Classic 8-Day Tour.” Taiwanese travelers can visit China’s largest saltwater lake – Qinghai Lake, and the sacred Tibetan Buddhist site – Kumbum Monastery. The itinerary can also be extended to Lhasa in Tibet to explore the world-renowned Potala Palace. On the return journey, travelers will take a special ride on the Qinghai-Tibet Railway back to Xining, enjoying the unique scenery of the plateau along the way and experiencing a blend of religious, cultural, humanistic, and natural elements in this exotic land. In addition, tourism operators have taken advantage of the convenient location of Western China, combining the Xi’an route to launch the “Flowers Along the Silk Road” itinerary. This tour covers the journey of the ancient Silk Road, blending the charm of ancient cities and highland landscapes, allowing travelers to experience the natural and cultural allure of two distinct cities.
