Three months of non-stop music: “Wild Stage Music Festival” joins in as Taipei Pop Music Festival kicks off

Three months of non-stop music: The first-ever “Taipei Pop Music Festival” organized by the Taipei City Government kicks off in August. The festival brings together events such as the Wild Stage Music Festival, Galaxy Music Festival, Flower Expo Star Sounds, and Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Unplugged Music Festival, and also collaborates with over 10 “live houses” that nurture independent bands to create a large-scale music extravaganza. Organizers have launched a mobile QR code scanning campaign for a chance to win great prizes. Leading the lineup is the 15th edition of the “Wild Stage Music Festival,” which draws packed crowds every year.

The Wild Stage Music Festival kicks off this year’s series of events, taking place from now until August 4th, 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM, at the Taipei Municipal Life and Recreation Center and the Flower Expo Yuanshan Park. Bands such as Tizzy Bac and Suede will perform in succession. In response to the Wild Stage Music Festival, the Taipei City Government’s Department of Cultural Affairs is also hosting two days of free “Original Talent and Guest Performances” at the Flower Expo Fine Arts Park during the same period. The event features recently crowned Golden Melody Award winner for Best Aboriginal Singer, Sangpuy, along with 15 other bands such as WoodyWoody acoustic duo and Silver Bus taking the stage.

The “Galaxy Music Gathering,” previously held in Gongguan, has moved to Xinyi District’s Fragrance Terrace Plaza this year. Starting August 3rd, concerts will take place over four consecutive weekend afternoons starting at 4:00 PM, featuring a total of eight shows that span rock, pop, and jazz genres. The “Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Unplugged Music Season” begins on August 4th at 4:30 PM with a performance by the band Bear Baby at the Taipei Main Station Front Store, followed by Queen Suitcase performing at the Tianmu Store on August 17th at 4:00 PM.

The climax of the music festival during the tail end of summer vacation is the “Flower Expo Star Sounds – Summer Night Concert,” scheduled for August 31st at 6:30 PM at the Flower Expo Plaza. The event invites rising music stars such as Lala Hsu, Wei Bird, Wei Wu Xuan, and Jia Jia to perform. The Department of Cultural Affairs noted that this year’s special “Good Music, Code Together” campaign allows the public to scan QR codes found on posters or standees at various Taipei music events starting August 10th. By collecting two QR codes via mobile scan, participants can enter a lucky draw.
