The plump "white peach" from which Momotaro emerged  Can now be enjoyed in Taiwan too

Remember the plump, round white peach that burst open to reveal Momotaro in the classic tale? Set in Japan’s Okayama Prefecture, the story is best known for that iconic large white peach. Now, that very “white peach” is coming to Taiwan—travelers can enjoy it without having to fly all the way to Japan.

Okayama peaches in Japan have a long cultivation history and are regarded as a premium variety in the country. The peak season for Okayama peaches runs from late June to mid-September. Air-freighted, freshly picked Okayama white peaches will be available at the supermarket on the B2 floor of Pacific SOGO Department Store in Taipei’s Eastern District from August 9 to 11, where Okayama Prefecture is holding a three-day special sales event. Aside from the chance to taste the juicy and delicious white peaches on-site for free, there will also be cute Momotaro-themed giveaways for visitors.

Additionally, on August 9, Okayama Prefecture will unveil the official design of its Momotaro mascot. The newest design of Momotaro was selected through a vote by Taiwanese visitors to Okayama at Okayama Airport. Travelers interested in catching a glimpse of the future mascot representing Okayama Prefecture are encouraged to check it out in person.
