Qixi Festival is approaching – Top 5 most romantic spots in Taiwan

The romantic Qixi Festival is just around the corner. Are you wondering where to take your partner for a stroll? Recently, a website launched a Valentine’s Day-themed poll asking netizens to vote for Taiwan’s must-visit romantic destinations,Following an enthusiastic online vote, five top romantic spots were selected. Among them, Kaohsiung’s Love River True Love Pier topped the list with 10,480 votes, favored for its distinct daytime and nighttime charm.

1st Place – Kaohsiung Love River True Love Pier
The True Love Pier features a distinctive twin-sail design, standing at the mouth of the Love River, facing both downtown Kaohsiung and the Qijin Ferry Terminal. From here, you can admire Kaohsiung’s modern cityscape, gaze at the harbor, and experience the thrill of massive ships entering port. The area offers different vibes during the day and at night. With skyscrapers lining the riverbank and reflecting on the water, it creates a serene and romantic scene. Sitting by the river chatting is a perfect date spot for couples.

2nd Place – Penghu Twin-Heart Stone Weir
The Penghu Twin-Heart Stone Weir is widely renowned and has become a key attraction for visitors to Penghu. It’s arguably the most distinctive cultural landmark on Qimei Island. Its unique heart-shaped design evokes beautiful and romantic associations, making it one of the best spots for couples to watch the sunrise on Qimei. Beyond its romantic shape, it’s also the most well-preserved among Penghu’s many stone weirs.

3rd Place – Hualien Qixingtan Beach
Hualien’s Qixingtan Beach boasts crystal-clear blue waters and stunning coastal scenery. Its beaches, pebbles, waterscapes, and the unique crescent-shaped bay are truly unforgettable. Today, Qixingtan refers to this extraordinarily gentle and graceful crescent-shaped coastline, known as “the most beautiful bay in Eastern Taiwan” and “Hualien people’s backyard garden.”

4th Place – Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf
Couples tend to gather here in the evening. As one of Taiwan’s Eight Scenic Spots, the “Tamsui Sunset” draws crowds to the wharf’s most popular attractions — the Lover’s Bridge and the end of the seaside wooden boardwalk — especially at dusk. Couples and friends flock here to find the best vantage points to watch the fiery sun dip into the sea. Thanks to the romantic nighttime lighting and the soothing background music, the area offers beautiful scenery and a lovely ambiance, making it one of Taipei couples’ favorite evening stroll spots.

5th Place – Pingxi
Pingxi’s sky lanterns are famous across Taiwan and were even selected by CNN in 2013 as one of the “52 Things to Do Before You Die.”The area gained even more popularity after the movie “You Are the Apple of My Eye” was filmed here. The scene where the movie’s protagonists release sky lanterns in Pingxi inspired many couples to follow suit. Strolling across the Zhongpu Iron Bridge, also nicknamed the “Lover’s Bridge,” adds another romantic element to the lantern-releasing experience.
