Survey Taiwan’s most stunning landscapes: The Top 10 Taiwanese Landscapes vote is up to you

Beauty contest time！Taiwan’s largest-ever nationwide “Top 10 Landscapes” public voting campaign kicks off on August 15. From 341 landscapes across Taiwan, 90 exceptional ones have been shortlisted, including famous spots such as Qixing Mountain, Jinguashi, and Qingshui Cliff. The public will then vote to decide Taiwan’s top 10, and those whose votes match the final results can win the “Taiwan Top 100 Landscapes” grand prize.

The 90 candidate landscapes span Taiwan’s main island and outlying islands, covering locations such as Heping Island, Guishan Island, Yehliu, Taoyuan Algal Reefs Coastline, Mount Datun, Sun Moon Lake, Daniaigu, the Clay Rock Badlands of Yueshi World, Kenting Forest Recreation Area, Penghu Wang’an Basalt Landscape, Guiningtou, Lienchiang’s One-Line Sky, Swallow Grotto, Shitiping, Sakayu Creek Valley, and Baxian Cave.

The voting campaign was initiated by National Taiwan University Geography Professor Lin Chun-chuan and six other scholars and experts after four years of effort “surveying” all 341 landscapes across Taiwan, from which they carefully selected 90 for public voting. The top 10 in the vote may be developed into “Landscape Parks” in the future, and a landscape guidebook will also be produced and distributed worldwide.

It has been 10 years since the last major survey. The research team explored counties and cities across Taiwan, leaving no outlying areas such as Kinmen and Matsu untouched.
