Romantic Qixi Night Tour of Yangmingshan – Stroll Under the Starry Sky and Watch Shooting Stars

The annual Chinese Valentine’s Day, Qixi, on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month, is here again. If you dread the crowded candlelit dinners of Qixi and crave something more romantic and touching, the Taipei City Government’s Department of Public Works suggests heading to Yangmingshan Park. Especially since the Perseid meteor shower will peak in the early hours of the 13th, walking under the starry sky with your loved one and making a wish as a shooting star streaks across the heavens could bring you happiness.

When making a wish for happiness, those planning to stargaze at Yangmingshan Park are reminded to pay special attention to the schedule of the last public transportation down the mountain. For those driving or riding up, there are three 24-hour parking lots available on the mountain—the Multi-Level Parking Lot, the Flower Clock Parking Lot, and the Second Parking Lot. Due to the low and unstable mountain temperatures, it is advised to bring an extra layer and rain gear to stay warm. Visibility can be poor at night in the mountains, so please watch your step and stay safe.

After your romantic evening, the Taipei City Government’s Department of Public Works recommends a great next-day destination: head down the mountain to Beitou Park’s open-air hot spring baths, where the earliest session begins at 5:30 a.m. Soak in the thermal waters while listening to the soothing sound of flowing water as you welcome the dawn. Feeling hungry? Head to Beitou Market to try popular local dishes like braised pork rice, tender meatballs, black tea, rice noodle soup, and pork ribs.

Beitou Park Hot Spring Baths
