Kina, a pet owner in Taitung who has three cats, loves animals so much that after opening her homestay, she also welcomes fellow cat and dog lovers to stay — even bringing their pets along. In addition to providing a clean space, she personally shops for ingredients and cooks breakfast for guests. She said, “We want to treat our guests like friends, offering them the most genuine and natural things, making them feel the warmth of home.”

Kina’s homestay,“A Few Kittens”is located in downtown Taitung. The single-story house has been renovated into two large four-person rooms (which can accommodate up to six people), one small four-person room, and one double room, creating a cozy homestay. It provides towels, food bowls, litter boxes, litter, and other pet supplies to make stays more convenient for guests traveling with pets. Usually, in addition to Kina managing all aspects of the homestay, the family’s black cat “Kiki” also serves as the “shop cat,” helping to greet guests.

Kina said she once encountered a homestay that was unfriendly toward pets, which made her very upset. Therefore, she doesn’t have many rules for pet owners, only hoping everyone will show consideration and try not to let their cats or dogs disturb other guests. In the future, she also plans to make pet treats and add a “washing area” in the courtyard outside the homestay so that dirty dogs can wash their paws.

As for recommended attractions, besides the currently popular Hot Air Balloon Festival, Kina also suggests that pet owners can take a walk in the Seaside Park to enjoy the exotic scenery, then admire the views of Lake Biwa. The area is also the venue for the annual Triathlon competition.

In addition, Kina pointed out that visiting the Taitung Sugar Factory to see cultural and creative works, workshops, and participate in DIY art activities is also a great choice. It's just a two-minute walk from the homestay, making it perfect to visit during spare time and enjoy a relaxing moment at the Archive Café inside the factory.
