With two months to go before Lunar New Year, businesses are already scrambling to tap into the festive meal market. On the 21st, a well-known banquet-style restaurant in Anping District, Tainan City, announced that its four chain outlets will not only offer dine-in New Year’s Eve dinners this year but have also entered the takeout market. Three of the locations allow customers to pick up freshly cooked meals, while a generous raffle offering vouchers worth NT$10,000 is being launched for diners who enjoy their meals on-site.
This long-established Tainan-based catering business operates four restaurants — two in Anping District, one in Yongkang District, and one in Kaohsiung City. In the past, only the two Anping branches offered takeaway New Year’s Eve dinners. For freshly cooked meals, a single outlet alone could sell over 3,000 dishes during the Lunar New Year period each year. Even frozen New Year’s Eve dinners could sell more than 1,000 portions, indicating substantial market potential.
This year, the business is expanding its share of the New Year’s Eve dinner market, with both the Yongkang and Kaohsiung branches joining the pre-order takeaway service. The four outlets will each offer different New Year’s Eve dinner menus, with Huaping Pavilion, Yongda Pavilion, and Kaohsiung Dingxian Pavilion all selling freshly cooked meals.
For dine-in New Year’s Eve dinners, the business is also going all out this year with special events, including performances and lucky draws. Kaohsiung Dingxian Pavilion will raffle off LCD TVs and hotel stay vouchers on New Year’s Eve, while Yongda Pavilion and Huaping Pavilion will offer vouchers worth NT$10,000 as prizes. Diners can look forward not only to a reunion dinner but also the excitement of winning a prize.
