Typhoon Trami, dubbed a "water sucker," hits Matsu, damaging equipment at Beihai Tunnel and Dahan Stronghold

After Typhoon Trami swept past Taiwan's main island, the Matsu region was hit by strong winds and heavy rain, causing damage to some railing facilities and lighting equipment at the popular Dahan Stronghold and Beihai Tunnel in Nangan Township. In response, the Matsu National Scenic Area Administration announced that, to ensure visitor safety, the above-mentioned attractions will be temporarily closed starting today (the 22nd) for emergency repairs.

In fact, this is not the first time the Beihai Tunnel scenic area has been damaged due to a typhoon.During the previous Typhoon Soulik last month, the statue of an engineering soldier in front of Beihai Tunnel fell over, coincidentally landing in a “resting pose,” a humorous scene that went viral online.This time, the powerful winds and rain brought by Typhoon Trami also caused significant damage to facilities at both Beihai Tunnel and Dahan Stronghold. The Matsu National Scenic Area Administration promptly carried out repair work. Visitors planning to visit these two sites are advised to check the official website beforehand to avoid disappointment.
