Who says Taoyuan is a cultural desert? On October 22 this year, amid great anticipation, the "Lingtan Street Innovation Base" made its grand debut. For hipsters and social media influencers, it’s a new spot for photos; for passionate creators truly dedicated to chasing their dreams, it’s a stage to shine.

The "Lingtan Street Innovation Base" was once Longtan’s top food street. After being ravaged by fire, undergoing reconstruction, and eventually falling into decline, it lay idle for 14 years before rising from the ashes. Local young people who returned to their hometowns created the "Hard Neck Market," featuring 47 stalls including coffee shops, story houses, egg waffles, bookstores, art galleries, pottery, and art studios. The revitalized old street looks brand new, as if returning to its former bustling glory.

Strolling down the street, you’ll find colorful lanterns hanging overhead, all hand-painted by local residents. When lit up, they create a uniquely charming atmosphere. While taking photos, it’s worth exploring each spot—each has its own story to tell.

Lingtan Street states that the 47 stalls offer a wide variety—not limited to handmade or cultural and creative goods, but any form of creativity can emerge here. Currently open only on Saturdays and Sundays, the base occasionally hosts street music performances, movie screenings, and other events. For those interested in DIY workshops, classes such as making wooden Christmas trees and sock dolls can be booked in advance.

With Christmas approaching, the area has installed a golden Christmas tree that lights up and bathes the whole block in a warm glow, creating a cozy mini Christmas town vibe. The base recommends spending about 1.5 hours exploring, after which visitors can also check out Longtan Pond, the Hakka Cultural Museum, and the nearby Zhong Chaozheng Literary Life Park, which is currently under construction.
