Taipei’s Yuanshan 5 Museums & 1 Historical Site Form “Taipei City Museum Cluster” Cultural Map

The Taipei City Government’s Department of Cultural Affairs has linked five museums and one historical site in the Yuanshan area to create the “Taipei City Museum Cluster” cultural map, aiming to develop a new-generation cultural convergence hub. Renovations across the various zones are scheduled to begin next year, with completion targeted for 2017.

The Department of Cultural Affairs noted that city museum clusters have long been established internationally as repositories of a city’s vital historical and cultural assets, serving as the best “urban voice.” Taipei boasts a rich, diverse, and inclusive array of venues and heritage sites, particularly in the Yuanshan area, which is home to many uniquely distinctive and historically significant institutions—offering inherently strong foundations. Systematically planning and consolidating these character-rich venues will better showcase the multi-layered cultural beauty of Taipei.

Currently, the venues slated for consolidation starting next year include:Taipei Story House, whose architectural exterior resembles a fairy tale,the design-forwardTaipei Fine Arts Museum,the traditional architectural complex withinChildren’s Amusement Parkthat carries rich historical and cultural heritage, the former sole broadcasting station in the city,Taipei Broadcasting Station,and the innovativeFlora Expo Pop Music Pavilion,constructed with patented POLLI-BRICK bottle bricks, blending fashion with eco-friendly technology—along with the Yuanshan Cultural Site, which provides key archaeological evidence of Taiwan’s Neolithic Age. Together, these five venues and one site will form the “Taipei City Museum Cluster” cultural map, starting from Yuanshan.
