Miniature yellow duck makes outdoor debut; smaller version appears at Kaohsiung City Government Plaza on the 7th

The yellow rubber duck is set to make its adorable debut at Kaohsiung’s Glory Pier starting September 19. A few days ago, a 10:1 scaled-down version of the duck made an early appearance in the atrium of the Sihwei District Office of the Kaohsiung City Government, attracting many citizens to stop and take photos. To allow even more people to enjoy the charm of the little duck up close, the miniature version will be displayed in the outdoor plaza of the Sihwei District Office from September 7 to September 8, giving all residents the chance to see the tiny duck up close.

The yellow duck’s charm is sweeping across Taiwan. The yellow duck that will soon reside at Glory Pier stands 18 meters tall, making it the second largest in the world and the biggest in Asia. The miniature version displayed in the Kaohsiung City Government atrium stands 180 centimeters tall and has won widespread popularity among both children and adults with its cute and adorable appearance. During commuting hours and lunch breaks, many citizens come to take photos with the little duck.

Lai Rui-long, Director of the Kaohsiung City Government Information Bureau, stated that to make it easier for citizens and visitors from other cities to get close to the duck, the miniature version will be moved to the outdoor plaza area of the Sihwei District Office. He also noted that both the body of the yellow duck and its floating platform are currently being manufactured by top Taiwanese vendors at an accelerated pace. The production progress has already exceeded expectations, with quality and specifications surpassing even the requirements of the Dutch designer Florentijn Hofman. The yellow duck is scheduled to be transported to the nearby Pier-2 Art Center for assembly on September 12.
