The Taichung International Flower Carpet Festival kicks off this weekend, teaming up with a theme park to create a mini vacation destination

This Christmas season, Houli is especially lively. On December 23, the eve of Christmas Eve, in addition to the first anniversary of Lihpao OUTLET MALL, it is also the opening day of the Taichung International Flower Carpet Festival. Lihpao Theme Park has joined forces with the Taichung City Government to launch exclusive offers: “Admire the flower carpet, enjoy Lihpao, and shop at the Outlet.” From now until January 1, 2018, during the day, visitors can take the free shuttle bus (Laihu/Blue Line) to the Flower Carpet Festival from Parking Lot 3 of Lihpao Theme Park to enjoy the flowers and breathe in the natural phytoncides. After 2 PM, they can head to Lihpao Theme Park for fun-filled rides. Locals enjoy a special ticket price of NT$280 (original price NT$650). Additionally, they can feast on delicious food and shop at the Outlet.

The Taichung International Flower Carpet Festival runs from December 23 to January 7, 2018, with the exhibition area located in the Houli Flower Field Green Corridor. This year’s curatorial theme is “The Sound of Blooming Flowers,” featuring a large array of locally distinctive floral displays. The main scene, “Mountain Cherry Blossoms in Bloom,” is paired with dynamic mechanical flowers such as lilies and cosmos, dancing together to present a delightful feast of floral symbiosis. There are also the playful and adorable mascots of the Flower Expo, the “Formosan Clouded Leopard Family,” who perform “The Formosan Clouded Leopard Family’s Joyful Ode” on the hillside, creating through this floral wonderland a globally renowned saxophone image for Houli.

During the Flower Carpet Festival, the area sees large crowds. To avoid affecting the enjoyment of flower viewing, visitors are encouraged to make use of the city government’s thoughtful arrangements, taking the free shuttle bus from Parking Lot 3 of Lihpao Theme Park. The Laihu Blue Line shuttle operates from 8:20 AM on weekdays, with buses departing every 25–30 minutes on weekdays and every 20 minutes on holidays.
