Creative paper sculptures of sperm whales, flying fish, clownfish, and tuna bring the ocean world to life

The Yunlin, Chiayi, and Tainan Coastal National Scenic Area Administration has invited master paper sculptor Hong Xin-Fu to exhibit his marine ecological paper art. Visitors can view the paper sculptures at the Beimen Visitor Center from now until December 12.

Master Hong Xin-Fu stated that this paper sculpture exhibition specially features creations themed around sperm whales, flying fish, clownfish, and tuna. Paired with the visitor center’s existing centerpiece — the sperm whale specimen — the aim is to transform the exhibition hall into a vibrant ocean world.

The Yunlin, Chiayi, and Tainan coastal region boasts an extensive coastline, rich in precious wetlands, sandbars, lagoons, diverse migratory birds, and coastal ecological resources from north to south, making it abundant in marine resources. Director Zheng Rong-Bo of the Yunlin, Chiayi, and Tainan Coastal Scenic Area Administration mentioned that the exhibition displayed at the visitor center introduces local specialty products and also features vivid paper-cut artworks and multimedia presentations. Visitors can quickly get to know and learn about the natural ecology of the coastal area.
