Barbecuing has become an essential activity for Taiwanese people during the Mid-Autumn Festival. Although local governments have urged everyone to celebrate by eating mooncakes, pomelos, and drinking tea, this barbecue trend is hard to resist. Therefore, Taipei City has opened 11 designated areas, including Dajia Riverside Park, for the public to engage in barbecuing and picnicking. In contrast, Taichung City only permits barbecuing in three locations: Aofengshan Park in Qingshui District, Wufu Linmen Sacred Tree Area in Shige District, and Zhongzheng Camping Area in Beitun District.

The Taipei Water Department reminds the public that when barbecuing in designated areas, they must comply with the relevant regulations of the riverside parks, clean up trash promptly, and maintain environmental cleanliness. In particular, grills, barbecue tools, charcoal residue, ashes, or food waste should be properly disposed of. Before leaving, ensure that all sources of fire are completely extinguished to prevent fires. The department also warns that barbecuing in non-designated areas will result in fines if warnings are not heeded.

Yanping Riverside Park: Riverside area between the Dadaocheng Bicycle Rental Station and the basketball court (excluding the bicycle lane area)
Huazhong Riverside Park: Designated area at the circular plaza on the downstream side of Huazhong Bridge
Machangding Riverside Park: Designated area at Machangding Plaza
Daonan Left Bank Riverside Park: 1. Circular plaza under the Hengguang Bridge riverbank ramp
                                    2. Designated plaza to the right front of the parking lot outside the zoo
Bailing Right Bank Riverside Park: Designated area upstream of Sanjiaodu Pier
Bailing Left Bank Riverside Park: Plaza under Bailing Bridge
Shuangxi Right Bank Riverside Park: Circular plaza 30 meters upstream of Yunong Bridge
Yuanshan Riverside Park: Designated area around the skating rink
Chengmei Left Bank Riverside Park (Nangang & Songshan side): Slope protection platform between 50 meters upstream of Rainbow Bridge and Chengmei Bridge
