Not just aiming to be flight attendants — Far Eastern Air’s “brand ambassadors” offer salaries 15% higher

Being a flight attendant is no longer the ultimate goal; “brand ambassadors” are even more appealing. The national airline today opened recruitment for flight attendants, starting at a monthly salary of NT$40,000, with only 25 positions available but attracting nearly a thousand applicants for interviews. In addition to flight attendants, the airline will also select “brand ambassadors” from new recruits for the first time to represent Far Eastern Air at various public events. The pay for “brand ambassadors” will be 10%–15% higher than that of regular flight attendants.

Far Eastern Air is recruiting new flight attendants, selecting 25 out of thousands of applicants, with an acceptance rate of only around 2%, and a starting monthly salary of about NT$40,000. Notably, Far Eastern Air will choose 5 to 10 “brand ambassadors” from this batch of new hires, and among them select individuals to serve as the airline’s “poster faces.” These “brand ambassadors” will represent Far Eastern Air at various public events, and their salaries will be 10%–15% higher than those of regular flight attendants. Since the recruitment announcement, thousands have applied, competing for the 25 openings for new flight attendants — the competition is intense, with an estimated acceptance rate of only around 2%.

The preliminary round includes simulated cabin tests, document review, interviews, and brand ambassador photo shoots. Far Eastern Air stated that the simulated cabin test primarily assesses whether flight attendants can reach items at a height of up to 208 cm. The interview focuses on the applicants’ approachability, attitude, and verbal communication skills as scoring criteria. Preliminary applicants are generally highly educated, with many holding master’s degrees or above. There are also models, high-speed rail attendants, flight attendants, and ground staff from other airlines among the candidates. The list of preliminary round qualifiers will be announced at the end of September, with plans to select 150 candidates for the second round. Those who pass the preliminary round will advance to the second round in late October.
