The annual Qingjing Torch Festival is set to kick off at Qingjing Elementary School. In addition to the grand torch event on October 25, the nearby Qingjing Farm will also host the “Nostalgia for Qingjing” event to attract visitors from all over.

The 2013 Qingjing Torch Festival is jointly organized by Nantou County Government, Ren’ai Township Office, and Qingjing Farm. The event features performances of Tai ethnic dances, torch welcome ceremonies, Yunnan water pipe competitions, and more, all free and open to the public. The Qingjing Torch Festival originates from traditional festivals of ethnic minorities such as the Yi people in mainland China, and is also known as the “Star Return Festival” or the “Eastern Carnival.” During the festival, residents raise torches high to light up the sky and pray for a good harvest, symbolizing unity and solidarity within the tribe.

To celebrate the Torch Festival, Qingjing Farm will also hold the “Nostalgia for Qingjing – Celebrating Veterans Day Event” on October 26 and 27 over two days at the Guanshan Grazing Area, where visitors can come and enjoy the weekend.
