Giant yellow rubber duck, Panda Cub sand sculptures — Dream Mall in Kaohsiung competes for attention with massive “sand” display

The yellow rubber duck arrives in port on the 19th! The Kaohsiung City Marine Bureau is also holding a sand sculpture festival to join the fun, taking place on the 19th and 20th at the plaza of Dream Mall. This event has brought in 300 tons of sand to create a super-sized duck sand sculpture standing 6 meters tall. The recently adorable giant pandas Yuan Yuan and Yuan Zai are also making an appearance. Other works include the adventurers’ favorite Dragon Quest, Star Cloud Mecha Battle, Crazy Giant Shark, and Zeus the God of Heaven.

The “Autumn Moon Sand Sculpture Festival” event, launched by the city government and Dream Mall, not only rides the wave of the duck craze by creating a duck sand sculpture but also invites 12 master sand sculptors to join in. After 18 days of work, six large-scale pieces have been completed.

The Marine Bureau stated that in addition to the sand sculpture displays, there will also be live sand sculpture shows on-site, along with a sandbox play area for children. During the day, visitors can admire the intricate craftsmanship of the sand sculptures, while at night they can enjoy the special effects of colorful light projections. The event also features a “Chinese and Western BBQ Battle,” gathering eight local and international-style BBQ vendors offering a variety of specialty grilled dishes, as well as a “Food Market” showcasing a range of unique snacks.
