The countdown has begun for the Yellow Rubber Duck’s arrival in Kaohsiung. Early on the 19th, staff started the final rehearsal at Pier-2 Art Center, which was expected to wrap up by 9 AM. At 4 PM, the Yellow Rubber Duck will officially make its debut in Kaohsiung, with the 18-meter-tall, Asia’s largest rubber duck “swimming” into Glory Pier. As Tropical Storm Usagi approaches Taiwan, it may not only affect the smooth docking of the duck but could also dampen moon-gazing plans. Fortunately, the Central Weather Bureau reports that Usagi is moving slowly and is expected to issue a sea warning by midnight on Mid-Autumn Festival (the 19th) and a land warning by noon on the 20th, which should not impact the duck’s docking operations.

The duck was originally expected to take two hours to inflate and stand up, but it hasn’t been able to do so yet due to an issue with the lifting points. This is the first time the duck’s body is connected to the base (previously it was simply placed on a floating platform), and the lifting point is unbalanced, so adjustments are underway...The duck’s rehearsal has been significantly delayed.
