Taipei Historical Spots Crawl – Explore Taipei’s Past Through 15 Routes

How well do you know Taipei? Starting October 12, the Taipei City Archives Committee has planned three major themed activities and 15 routes that the public can join for free. These include half-day historical tours led by local history enthusiasts, gatherings to explore famous former residences and wander through old streets across the city. Through detailed guided tours from various perspectives, participants can rediscover the many stories of Taipei’s past.

The Taipei City Archives Committee stated that this year’s theme, “Love Taipei City – Historical Spots Crawl,” features specially designed 10 “Half-Day Historical Tours” and 5 “Historical Spot Gatherings.” The Half-Day Historical Tours will be held every weekend starting October 12, divided into two major themes: “Led by Local Celebrities” and “Exploration & Discovery.” Theme routes include “Relaxing in Beitou Hot Springs,” “Memories of the North-Tamsui Line,” and “A Stroll Around Ningxia Night Market.”

The Historical Spot Gatherings will bring together 500 history and heritage enthusiasts. On November 3 at 8:00 AM, participants will depart from the Wanhua No. 406 Square (the new site of the Archives Committee) and “set off on five routes” featuring distinctive themes such as “Visiting Celebrity Residences,” “Hearing the Stories of Historic Houses,” and “Tasting History Along Old Streets” to discover Taipei’s old tales.

The Archives Committee noted that the event runs from October 12 to November 23. The Half-Day Historical Tours will take place every Saturday during the event period, while the Historical Spot Gatherings will kick off on November 3 (Sunday).
