Owner Takes Beloved Dog to Kōya Coast Park to Enjoy a Tropical Vacation Vibe

It’s a joyful experience to head to the seaside with your furry companion. Previously, one owner took their calico cat DuoDuo to Nanfang’ao to admire the sunset. Recently, a Japanese dog owner also brought their two West Highland White Terriers to Kōya Coast Park for a walk, to feel the sea breeze, and to enjoy the thrill of being up close to the waves.

In early September, West Highland White Terriers Mel and Kurumi went on a trip to Kōya Coast Park in Shizuoka with their owner. They not only enjoyed the coastal scenery and walked on the round pebbles by the shore, but also visited the park’s giant pirate ship installation. Of course, they also had a great time running freely across the vast grassy fields.

The dog owner mentioned that the park is usually very hot during the day, so they prefer to visit in the evening. On the day of this trip, it was a sunny day but not too hot, with a gentle sea breeze. The feeling of taking a walk and gazing out at the ocean was wonderful—there was even a sense of freedom.

Kōya Coast Park is located along the coastline of Shizuoka City. Though situated in Japan, the park features numerous palm trees and sandy beach-style landscapes, giving off a strong tropical vibe. Its most iconic landmark is an enormous pirate shipwreck embedded in the sand. In addition to the beach where visitors can enjoy the surf, the park also has an artificial water play area, sandy beaches, and playground equipment—perfect for young children to splash around and build sandcastles. All of these are free of charge. However, if you bring your dog, the park requires that they be kept on a leash.
