What is the most flavorful and memorable dish in Tainan? The “2013 Tainan Clear-Braised Beef Festival” is about to begin. The organizing authority, the Tourism Bureau, has sent out invitations to all clear-braised beef vendors in Tainan City, hoping to make clear-braised beef a trendy local cuisine that visitors must try this winter.

The Tainan Tourism Bureau stated that the Clear-Braised Beef Festival has been held for several years, and this year’s event will surpass previous ones. In addition to stamp-collecting and lucky draws as part of the Tainan Food Festival, a clear-braised beef map will be issued to help vendors market their businesses and recommend to visitors “certified, hygienic, delicious, and truly local” clear-braised beef eateries in Tainan.

At the same time, a clear-braised beef tasting event will be held at the main venue in mid-November, where 10 participating vendors are expected to serve 5,000 bowls of free clear-braised beef for attendees to enjoy, aiming to set a record for the most people tasting clear-braised beef at once. The Tourism Bureau will also provide 5,000 discount vouchers for visitors to use at participating stores. Beyond the main event, the goal is to encourage visitors to patronize various clear-braised beef shops around the city.

Tainan City is a major producer of beef cattle in Taiwan and a key hub for beef supply nationwide, leading in production volume. Fresh, warm-bodied beef prepared by clear-braising offers a taste distinct from imported frozen beef. This unique culinary culture of Tainan is one of the must-try delicacies that attract food lovers from both home and abroad. This event will also align with national beef labeling standards and food hygiene regulations, assisting vendors in clearly indicating the origin of their beef ingredients, ensuring peace of mind for consumers.
