Crazy Yellow Rubber Duckie Frenzy: Land & Sea Cruise Combo Lets You See It All

The Yellow Rubber Duck craze continues, and now there’s a brand-new way to "duck watching" — Taiwan Railways’ cruise-style train service is launching the “Sea & Land Cruise Combo, Let’s Go Duck Spotting Together!” event on October 11. In addition to riding the cruise train to enjoy railway bento meals and visit the Qiaotou Sugar Refinery, a luxury cruise ship has been specially chartered to give visitors an up-close view of the duck and the beautiful scenery of Kaohsiung Harbor, showcasing the charm of Greater Kaohsiung.

Taiwan Railways stated that on Friday, October 11 at 8 AM, the cruise-style train will depart from Douliu, making a stop in Qiaotou en route to allow visitors to tour the Qiaotou Sugar Refinery and enjoy a railway bento meal. The train will then continue to its final stop at Kaohsiung Station, where passengers will transfer to buses bound for Fisherman's Wharf. Taiwan Railways has specially chartered a luxury passenger vessel from the Taiwan International Ports Corporation, enabling visitors to get a close-up view of the Yellow Rubber Duck from the sea, with scenic views of the Kaohsiung Harbor area along the way.

Besides sailing and duck viewing, Taiwan Railways noted that visitors can also explore the Pier-2 Art Center to see various creative exhibitions, as well as shop for specially made duck-themed fans and souvenirs. On the return trip, guests will take the Kaohsiung MRT back to Kaohsiung Station, where they can admire the beauty of Formosa Boulevard Station — ranked the world’s second most beautiful metro station.

For the “Sea & Land Cruise Combo, Let’s Go Duck Spotting Together!” event, the cruise-style train has a total of 206 seats available, matching the capacity of the sea cruise. Tickets are now on saleon the Taiwan Railways official websitein the “Railway Tourism Zone,” and the public is encouraged to book online as soon as possible.
