From the Netherlands, the yellow rubber duck has slid into Kaohsiung!! Everyone has been looking forward to it for so long. When it was exhibited in Hong Kong before, it caused a huge sensation. I really wanted to rush over to see it then, and later I heard that Taiwan would soon have its exhibition too, with the maiden voyage in Kaohsiung — I was overjoyed!! After all, such a huge duck isn’t something you can see just anywhere!! The maiden voyage in Kaohsiung is at Glory Pier, with the exhibition period from 9/19 to 10/20. If you want to see the super cute yellow duck, you’d better hurry — otherwise, you’ll have to go to Taoyuan to see it!! By the way... actually Taoyuan is closer to me, but I couldn’t resist my duck-longing heart — I just had to be the first one!! (shrugs)

 

After finding parking near Glory Pier, I walked over and saw the giant yellow head right by the roadside — I was genuinely thrilled!! Traffic in this area is regulated, so it’s better not to drive in; the fines are steep!! The duck is displayed until 11 PM at night, so going later means fewer crowds.

Just look at that sea of black heads below — using them as a scale, you can tell just how enormous the yellow rubber duck is!!

Moored out at sea, it even has a reflection under the moonlight....

At the entrance of Glory Pier, there’s also this adorable cardboard duck.

Since the hotel I’m staying at isn’t far from Glory Pier, I parked near the hotel and it’s only a ten-minute walk. The next morning after breakfast, I even made a special trip to see the daytime version of the duck.

Under the blue sky, the yellow duck looks even more vibrant and massive.

I saw so many kindergarten kids holding hands happily and excitedly going to see the giant yellow duck.

I heard this giant yellow duck is the largest in Asia, standing 18 meters tall~

I honestly don’t know if we’re looking at it, or if it’s looking at us.

Even in profile, it’s still stylish...

Taking a photo from another angle, using the building as a scale, it looks even more massive....

There are also many stalls at Glory Pier. If you’re tired from duck-watching, you can come here to rest and grab a bite.


What is business opportunity? This is a business opportunity. Riding the wave of the duck craze, merchants were quick on their feet, immediately developing a toilet-themed yellow rubber duck ice cream — just 40 NT$ a cup. After eating the ice cream, you can even rinse the cup and keep it as a souvenir. I ate half the ice cream before remembering to take a photo, and unexpectedly, it matched the toilet theme quite well~~~XDDD

Kaohsiung is practically surrounded by the yellow rubber duck!! You can see yellow duck merchandise everywhere — even department stores and building signs have the yellow duck’s presence. Watch out, Kaohsiung is being hit by a yellow storm, although it seems everyone is happily under attack~~

In this gloomy and tense social atmosphere, the yellow rubber duck gives us a sense of healing. It makes us happy, and the merchandise and its economic benefits allow businesses to profit, boosting the local economy. Such a win-win model — why not embrace it~ After all, who doesn’t love cute things^^.

1. Bus: Take bus routes 14, 33, 50, 76, 77, 214, or the High-Speed Rail Gudu Shuttle Bus to Kaohsiung Girls’ Senior High School Station. On holidays, you can also take the Waterfront Bus to Kaohsiung Girls’ Senior High School Station.
2. MRT: Take the Red Line to Central Park Station, then transfer to shuttle bus Red 25 to get there.
