Witness love in front of the Rubber Duck – an ultra-romantic must-see duck-viewing spot

The Yellow Rubber Duck exhibition in Kaohsiung has sparked a nationwide duck-viewing craze, attracting 1.67 million visitors so far, with widespread online discussion and photo sharing. The Facebook page “Kaohsiung Incredible” recently called on netizens to submit photos of the Rubber Duck, which were then judged by aesthetics experts. Photos such as couples kissing with the Duck as witness to their love, reflections of the Duck by the harbor, and a Duck wearing a crown accumulated 15,751 likes and 197,197 clicks, and have been widely shared by many users.

The healing Yellow Rubber Duck exhibition in Kaohsiung has become extremely popular. In nearly half a month since its launch, it has attracted 1.67 million visitors, and is expected to surpass 2 million by this Saturday and Sunday. Lai Rui-long, Director of the Kaohsiung City Government’s Information Bureau, said that the “Kaohsiung Incredible” Facebook page, set up by the bureau, began collecting photos of the Rubber Duck taken by netizens on September 25. So far, over 250 excellent photos have been submitted, and submissions are still being accepted.

In addition to the “Kaohsiung Incredible” Facebook Rubber Duck photo collection team, photography experts and art editors were also invited to judge the submissions, selecting photos with unique features, photographic skill, and compositional aesthetics. Five photo albums have been published on Facebook so far. Among them, the photo “Night Duck” by netizen “Wild Bento,” showing the reflection of the Rubber Duck by the harbor, has been the most popular, receiving 2,241 likes, 234 shares, and 31 comments from followers.

The photo “Love Witnessed by the Duck” by netizen “Kaohsiung Resident Lü Zhixian,” featuring a couple kissing, boldly showcases their affection and has received 1,433 likes, 73 shares, and 22 comments, making it the second most popular photo submitted. In addition, some netizens used creative angles, shooting from around the Glory Pier and using forced perspective with surrounding buildings to humorously give the Duck a crown, adding a lot of fun.

Lai Rui-long, Director of the Kaohsiung City Government’s Information Bureau, said that besides the well-known great spots for photographing the Rubber Duck—such as Glory Pier, True Love Pier, and water-level duck viewing areas—the photo submission campaign has uncovered some unexpected angles and surprising locations. Lai pointed out that some netizens had previously expressed the hope of collecting Rubber Duck souvenir stamps. After discussions with the exhibition team, it was decided to go ahead with the idea, and a “Yellow Rubber Duck Stamp” service is expected to be launched this Saturday (October 5). Visitors who wish to get their passports stamped can visit the service desk near Haian Road and Qingnian Road, where five different stamps will be available for commemorative use.
