Taipei International Travel Fair / Fair enters second day as crowds line up for meal vouchers

The first day of the Taipei International Travel Fair (on the 18th) opened to the public at 12 noon, attracting a huge influx of visitors, hitting an impressive 61,550 attendees — a significant increase of 18.35% compared to the 52,006 on the same day last year. New additions such as the homestay and food zone on the second floor of Hall 1 at the World Trade Center and Hall 3 both saw long lines of people queuing for meal vouchers with a 47% discount. These were snapped up for group dining, entertaining guests, and corporate welfare committees making purchases, serving many purposes including year-end party raffles.

On October 19th, the weekend opening at 10 am saw people queuing early, eyeing their desired meal and accommodation vouchers for a mad dash to grab great deals. At 10 am, the first ten people to check in at the Shiang Shu Garden Hotel (G562) booth in Hall 3 could get afternoon tea originally priced at NT$462 for just NT$1. Starting at 10 am in Hall 1, there’s a dance performance from various countries every 30 minutes, and at 10:30 am, Funda Travel / Guam offers a 5+1 day trip originally priced at NT$28,000, now available for two people at NT$19,900.

Other highlights today include flight attendants from Hawaii making an appearance, TV personality Hsu Chieh-hui at the Tourism Bureau Taiwan Pavilion in Hall 1 and the Formosa Hotel in Hall 3 at 11 am, a signature session with Chef Ah Ji at 11 am, and a 1 yuan auction for a Ya Feng accommodation voucher (originally NT$6,600) at the Shui Mei Hot Spring in Hall 3 at 11:30 am. At 2 pm, there’s a performance by singer Bee Bee Qi-Shu-Jin at the China Airlines booth, at 2:30 pm the Sasa Japan Pavilion, and at 3 pm a 1 yuan bid for a 5-day Boracay couple’s free-and-easy trip (originally NT$39,000) at Funda Travel. Additionally, celebrities such as Liu Ke-xiang and Wu Feng will be gathering at Hall 1 of the World Trade Center.
