The maple leaves at Nantou’s Aowanda have turned red

The maple leaves at Aowanda have turned red！ As autumn arrives and temperatures gradually drop, the maple leaves in Aowanda National Forest Recreation Area in Ren’ai Township, Nantou County, have also turned red, heralding the official start of this year’s maple leaf viewing season.

Aowanda Recreation Area stated that due to the large temperature differences in the mountainous area recently, averaging over 10 degrees Celsius, conditions are very favorable for the leaves to turn red. In the park’s maple leaf viewing platform, there is a “harbinger” sweet gum tree that always changes color ahead of the others, signaling the arrival of the viewing season. Recently, the leaves on this tree have already turned red, indicating that the widespread color change of the maple leaves in the park is not far off.

To coincide with the maple leaf viewing season, the recreation area has implemented visitor volume control starting today. An electronic signboard is set up at the entrance on Wushe Route 83, displaying the current number of visitors in the park. Visitors may also inquire with Aowanda management by calling (049) 2974511.
