Lowering overhead power lines – Starting the 30th, the little duck in Taoyuan will no longer have three overhead lines on its face

The adorable appearance of the Taoyuan little duck has attracted large crowds of visitors. However, those who don’t walk up onto the embankment may notice three to five overhead power lines appearing above the duck’s head in photos. In response to public demand, to avoid affecting the visual experience of the artwork and the surrounding power facilities, work to lower some of the overhead power lines in front of the duck’s face was completed after 5 p.m. on the 9th.

The Taoyuan County Land Art Festival adheres to the principles of respecting local characteristics and integrating artworks into the local landscape. The festival creates a "museum without walls" centered around the pond culture, and in order not to affect the daily life of local residents, the utility poles in front of the yellow duck were retained. However, once the event began, the unsightly overhead lines made the duck’s face appear to have “three lines” or a “musical staff,” leaving many visitors feeling that it was “a blemish on an otherwise perfect scene.”

The row of overhead power lines in front of the yellow duck includes three high-voltage lines above the duck’s head, which are basic distribution equipment for Xinyi Township and serve as the main channels supplying electricity for local residents’ daily use. As these do not affect people taking photos with the yellow duck or the entrance installation, they have been retained. However, the other power lines in front of the duck’s face—such as grounding and streetlight lines, cable TV lines, and telecom transmission cables—were lowered in height after active cooperation from telecom and power companies. This engineering work does not affect their original functions and the original power lines will be restored to their prior state after the event concludes.

It is confirmed that before the event begins on the 30th, the public will be able to see the yellow duck with only the three high-voltage lines remaining above its head, allowing visitors to take happy and beautiful photos with the little duck.
