On holidays, you can see cyclists putting in effort at places like Yangmingshan, Alishan, Wuling and Hehuanshan, Sun Moon Lake, and the East Coast. Taiwan hosts around 50 cycling events and races each year, whether they are charity rides, municipal competitions, or challenges organized by associations. These events often sell out instantly, making cycling a true national pastime in Taiwan.

In recent years, the trend of "sports tourism" has been thriving, and cycling overseas has become especially popular. Besides experiencing local culture and scenery, cycling allows you to broaden your travel horizons. One of the newest hotspots is Guam — only twice the size of Taipei City. Cycling around the southern part covers about 100 kilometers, with mountain views on one side and the ocean on the other. The rolling roads and gentle sea breeze make for a very comfortable ride.

The "Ride the Challenge, Bicycle Journey" event, hosted by the Guam Visitors Bureau and co-organized by China Airlines, the Republic of China Bicycle Riders Association, and Pacific Islands International Travel Agency, will officially kick off from November 20th to 24th ! The carefully planned 40-kilometer route starts from the Guam Visitors Bureau and uses the Tumon Bay Boulevard as a warm-up. It begins with a visit to Lover’s Cove, offering a distant view of the beautiful Tumon Bay coastline, then heads south along Route 1 to pass by major Guam landmarks such as the Statue of Liberty, Latte Stone Park, Agana Bay, and the Pacific War Memorial (turnaround point). Along the way, you’ll immerse yourself in the unique Chamorro culture and rich local ecology, pedaling forward to experience the vibrant world of nature.

After the "Ride the Challenge, Bicycle Journey", cyclists are also welcome to take on the 105-kilometer "Guam Long Ride" race on January 19th next year and continue exploring the island on two wheels !
