Second price hike this year for Xiaoyeliu, Sansiantai, and Baxiandong – entry fees rise on November 1

Your wallet will take another hit again soon. Following the increase in campground fees earlier this year, the East Coast National Scenic Area Administration will raise the entrance cleaning fees for three of its scenic spots—Xiaoyeliu, Sansiantai, and Baxiandong—from November 1. Fees for large vehicles will go up by NT$50, and those for small vehicles by NT$10. Meanwhile, the stunning Shitiiping Scenic Area has charged fees since June 30, 2014.

The East Coast National Scenic Area Administration stated that the new fee standards for the three scenic areas are as follows: large vehicles will be charged NT$200 on holidays and NT$170 on non-holidays; small vehicles will be charged NT$60 on holidays and NT$50 on non-holidays; motorcycles will be charged NT$20 on holidays and NT$15 on non-holidays. The administration noted that prices have not been adjusted since 1998, but due to significant investments in improving the scenic environments in recent years and rising costs, the fee hike has been deemed necessary.

The administration pointed out that although entrance fees are increasing, service quality will also improve accordingly. Improvements include the development and enhancement of the environment around Xiaoyeliu, facilities in the Sansiantai recreation area, parking lots and trail systems at Baxiandong, and additional recreation facilities at Shitiiping, as well as the introduction of free Wi-Fi services.
