Hawaiian Airlines Launches New 'Extra Comfort' Economy Class for More Spacious Long-Haul Flights

Hawaiian Airlines recently announced that starting June 1 next year, it will introduce a new cabin class between business and economy — 'Extra Comfort' — across all its A330 aircraft, offering passengers on long-haul flights more comfortable and spacious seating.
In recent years, a new trend in the aviation industry has been the introduction of an additional cabin class between business and economy. While it may not match the space of business class, it offers greater comfort compared to the somewhat cramped economy cabin. Hawaiian Airlines’ 'Extra Comfort' class targets this new service goal, designed specifically for long-haul travelers, allowing passengers to enjoy more spacious seating than economy at a price significantly better than business class.

In addition to more legroom, passengers on A330 routes will also enjoy priority boarding, complimentary access to more in-flight personal entertainment options, and device charging. International flight passengers will receive these three services plus commemorative pillows and blankets, as well as a choice of premium meal options.
The 'Extra Comfort' seats will be located in rows 11 to 14 and rows 33 to 34, totaling 40 seats on the A330. Reservations will open on the Hawaiian Airlines website starting January next year (2014), or passengers can pay an additional fee to upgrade at check-in once the service officially launches.
