Tainan now has a brand-new specialty hot pot shop near Cheng Kung University—HIGH Pot (aka Happy Pot)!

Haha, just the giant seafood pot at the entrance of HIGH Pot is probably going to be a key photo spot for stylish diners. It’s instantly uplifting. The shop mainly serves individual hot pot sets with handmade broths and fresh ingredients that are really great. Especially recommended are the spicy broth and milk pot, and the lowest per-person price is only $188 NTD, with no service fee. The cost-performance ratio is really high. I had lunch and posted about it right after dinner. With the weather getting colder lately, quickly add this to your Tainan food list.

HIGH Pot is located on Shengli Road in Tainan, next to the well-known Shengli Breakfast Shop, so it’s very easy to find. This area is part of the Cheng Kung University and Tainan First High School school district, so the hot pot here is also priced affordably. Drivers can find parking nearby, and it’s even easier if you’re on a scooter.

The shop is bright and lively. In addition to dine-in hot pot, they also offer take-out options like pot pasta, crab congee, and drinks, which you can order at the take-out counter near the entrance.

I bet you’ll get excited the moment you see this huge hot pot as you walk in. It’s definitely a must-take photo spot. Before the hot pot even arrived, almost all the customers were lining up for group photos. How cute is that?

The light industrial-style decor is quite cozy. There are seats on both the first and second floors, which should accommodate quite a few guests, though the second floor wasn’t open yet, possibly because it had just opened that day.

The staff said this isn’t the official menu yet, but basically there are single-person and four-person set meal combinations, as well as a la carte options for hot pot meat ingredients and drinks. The staff strongly recommended the squid paste—they said you can actually see pieces of squid in it. Everyone interested should give it a try.

Starting from as low as $188 NTD, you can choose from basic broths like pork bone, spicy, and dried bonito, with meat options including safe pork, fresh fish slices, and tender chicken thighs. For $249–$350, you can get higher-quality meat, and all sets come with rice and a side drink (which can be upgraded for an additional fee).

Drinking water and seasonings are self-serve, with options like satay sauce, oil & vinegar, Japanese-style radish paste, chili, scallions, and garlic.

That day we ordered the $249 spicy duck blood, pumpkin-flavored, and cheese milk pots. When everything was served and laid out on the table, it looked super abundant. I felt the flavors were quite suited to popular taste—not too salty or too bland. The staff said these three broths are all freshly made in-house, so ordering these is the way to go.

The vegetable plates mainly feature fresh greens and mushrooms. The sweet corn was super sweet, and there were also a few common hot pot items like fish balls, shrimp balls, and rice blood cake.

For main protein, we picked sea bream & dorado fish slices, tender chicken thigh, and bacon beef. The portions were very generous, not skimpy at all.

Side drinks can be upgraded for an additional cost. For example, you can upgrade to a gradient drink for just 35 NTD more. Other options include juice, fresh milk, and Calpis.

My friend’s pumpkin-flavored pot came with fish slices (sea bream & dorado), paired with a full plate of veggies, rice, and a drink. The value is amazing.

My friend said the pumpkin aroma in the broth wasn’t overpowering—just a light, fragrant taste, as if it was genuinely simmered with real ingredients. It tasted great even without extra seasoning.

My husband’s spicy duck blood pot came with tender chicken thigh. The broth is also made fresh daily by the shop, and it includes spicy tofu and duck blood.

The spicy duck blood pot at HIGH Pot was the best dish of the day according to all three of us.

Its broth isn’t the kind of fiery hot that will make you sweat uncontrollably. It’s fragrant with a mild numbing spice that doesn’t hurt your tongue. Whatever you cook in it tastes amazing. Highly recommended.

The cheese milk pot came with bacon beef. I felt the bacon beef had a richer fat content, so next time I’d probably choose the $289 wagyu beef.

The broth was quite rich but not greasy, blending the aromas of milk and cheese. Eating hot pot here even helps you get calcium, dairy, and a boost of energy.

Later, I gave my husband all the bacon beef and ordered an additional premium sirloin steak. The marbling was beautiful, and the best part is this plate only cost $129 NTD—it’s super affordable. HIGH Pot really excels even in pricing.

Oh, and there’s also the delicious crab congee with a whole crab inside—just 79 NTD for a bowl. That’s such great value.

But a heads-up: items like pot pasta and crab congee are on the take-out menu. Of course, you can eat them in-store, but you’ll need to meet the 150 NTD minimum spend.

Our total bill for three hot pots, one premium sirloin steak a la carte, upgraded drinks, and one take-out crab congee was 1,060 NTD, with no service charge.

Overall, this newly opened HIGH Pot in Tainan is really good. There’s a giant seafood pot display at the entrance for photos, the food is solid, the portions are generous, and both the spicy broth and cheese milk pot are highly recommended for everyone to try. A quick share and let’s all go enjoy some hot pot together.
