It is precisely because of this beautiful sight that the renowned Japanese vintage car event organizer “RALLY NIPPON” will lead 60 vintage cars, with an average age of over 60 years, overseas for the first time on November 28. They will hold a 4-day, 3-night round-island rally in Taiwan.
March 11, 2011, is the most unforgettable day for the Japanese. The powerful earthquake in eastern Japan left the area in ruins. Taiwan swiftly dispatched personnel for rescue and generously provided aid funds that surpassed those of any other country in the world to assist Japanese disaster victims in rebuilding their homes. To this day, the Japanese remain deeply grateful. In appreciation, “RALLY NIPPON,” the only domestically recognized vintage car event organizer approved by the Japan Tourism Agency, has decided to move its annual vintage car rally to Taiwan. Through a 4-day, 3-night round-island relay race, it aims to showcase the beauty of Taiwan’s cities and towns to the world.

The “RALLY NIPPON” vintage car rally started in 2009, and what fascinates all media and vintage car enthusiasts is the strict regulations on the eligible car models. All vintage cars must have been manufactured before 1974, and the competition is not about speed but precise time control. Participants must arrive at the designated spots accurately within the set time according to the route book. Moreover, unlike similar thousand-mile races in Europe that are purely competitive, “RALLY NIPPON” incorporates elements of cultural and historical appreciation. The entire route connects various historical sites and attractions, while also testing the endurance, physical strength, and car maintenance skills of the owners.
