MRT Xinyi Line Opens – Shops Celebrate with Great Deals

The Taipei MRT Xinyi Line is officially set to open on November 24. To thank the shops along the line for their cooperation during construction and to celebrate the official opening, Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-pin, on the eve of the opening, led officials from various city departments to visit shops along the line to distribute gifts as a token of gratitude and blessings. In addition, nearly 90 shops have launched both short-term and long-term promotional offers.

The Xinyi Line follows an east-west route. In addition to existing stations such as Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, Dongmen, and Da’an, the new stations along the line include Da’an Forest Park, Xinyi Anhe, Taipei 101, and Xiangshan. In the future, whether travelers want to embark on an eco-friendly trip in Da’an Forest Park or Xiangshan, or visit areas such as Tonghua Night Market, Taipei 101 shopping district, or the World Trade Center, getting around will be more convenient. For out-of-town visitors, it will also be easier to access Taipei’s major tourist attractions.

To celebrate the opening of the MRT Xinyi Line, the Taipei City Government has gathered nearly 90 highlighted shops along the line from Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall to Xiangshan Station to offer gratitude promotions. Within the first 3 days of the line’s opening, enjoy discounts of at least 50% off; within the first month, numerous participating shops will offer special discounts. Additionally, the Market Administration Office also announced that to celebrate the MRT Xinyi Line opening, three markets along the line are offering special promotions. These include the distribution of 50 lottery tickets on weekend mornings at the Dongmen Temporary Hawkers’ Market, a “Spend NT$1,000, Get a Limited Gift” promotion at the Jianguo Holiday Jade Market, and a “Spend NT$1,000, Exchange for Lottery Tickets” offer at Linjiang Street Night Market.
