Hong Kong's WinterFest is coming – a modern giant dandelion lights up

Hong Kong’s WinterFest will launch next Friday (November 29). A key event by the Hong Kong Tourism Board is “Christmas Dreams Take Flight” in Statue Square, Central. Instead of a traditional Christmas tree, the focus is on a modern, around 15-meter-tall giant dandelion art installation. The dandelion will be illuminated every evening at 6 PM, along with special lighting and music effects. It aims to send love and blessings to loved ones nearby and far away through the imagery of dandelion seeds flying with the wind. Visitors can bask in the festive cheer under the dazzling dandelion.

Last year, CNN recommended Hong Kong as the “No. 1 unique New Year’s Eve city in the world,” thanks to the world-famous Victoria Harbour fireworks. For Taiwanese travelers, Hong Kong is also the nearest and most budget-friendly overseas destination for ringing in the New Year. Xu Weini, Director of the Hong Kong Tourism Board in Taiwan, said: “Hong Kong is the most Christmassy place in all of Asia. In addition to the dazzling holiday decorations and lights across the streets, there are also citywide winter sales and special Christmas offers at restaurants.”
