“FIKA” in Swedish refers to a coffee break and moment of rest with friends outside of work. For this uncle, when it comes to impressions of Sweden, aside from IKEA, there’s also our little golden pig’s dad — Dr. Liao Deyu, who wrote the Swedish 1460 blog articles while studying in Sweden. It’s such a faraway country for us all.

Since the Fika Fika Cafe soft-launched and officially opened, baristas and coffee enthusiasts have flocked here to check in. Aside from admiring the La Marzocco Strada — an Italian espresso machine that allows full control over extraction pressure — they’re also inspired by “Roasting Hands on the Roof,” a veteran in our coffee industry and the operator of Huangding Coffee. He has long shared all things coffee through online platforms, inspiring many, including this uncle.

Although I don’t personally know the owner of Fika Fika, I’ve crossed paths with their head barista, Mr. Lin A-Mao, a few times. I remember first meeting A-Mao at Fima Coffee — that was several years ago. On my first visit to Fika Fika, the place was indeed packed, but luckily a friend was also there, so we managed to squeeze in a seat. Even amidst his busy schedule, Mr. A-Mao took the time to serve me an Ethiopian coffee — thank you so much.

Besides common Italian-style coffees, Fika Fika also offers a daily “S.O. Espresso,” which stands for Single Origin espresso. It’s made using single-origin beans to brew espresso. Without milk to soften the flavor, it fully showcases the roast master’s craft — allowing the barista to extract the coffee, a collaboration that also tests the stability of the espresso machine.

Pick a day to visit Fika Fika. See who you’ll meet this time?
