Limited time for one month only: Yilan’s version of Brown Sugar Road gets an observation deck to admire the endless golden rice fields

The Sanqi Rice Field area in Dongshan Township, Yilan County, features vast stretches of rice paddies and winding paths, along with an unobstructed view free from utility poles—earning it the nickname “Yilan’s version of Brown Sugar Road.” From now until the 30th, Dongshan Township Office has set up an observation deck in the rice field area, allowing visitors to climb up and enjoy the view of the golden waves of rice.

According to Dongshan Township Office, the rice field observation deck will be open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for a one-month period starting now until the 30th. Visitors can head up to the elevated platform to take in the unobstructed views of the endless golden rice paddies. To allow more people to appreciate this golden sea of rice, the township has also coordinated with local farmers to ensure that—as long as no typhoons arrive ahead of schedule or other force majeure events occur—the rice harvest will be postponed until after July.

The Dongshan Township Tourism Industry Development Office has also launched the “See Dongshan from Above” drone photography competition starting now until the 30th. Participants are invited to capture a 10-minute video of Dongshan Township using a drone, upload it to YouTube, and share the link on the Happy Dongshan Facebook page.
