This pair of snow boots got her barred from the airport lounge

Wearing snow boots for warmth in cold weather is common, but be careful—wearing the wrong shoes could get you turned away. Recently, an international singer tried to access a business lounge before her flight, but was unexpectedly blocked because she was wearing a well-known brand of wool boots. Despite claiming that she had worn these boots around the world without ever being stopped, the airline insisted the snow boots were categorized as “pajama-like attire” and strictly prohibited any outfit that didn’t meet their dress code, sparking global debate among netizens.

British pop singer Joanne Catherall posted on her social media on the 14th, complaining that while traveling to Australia for a concert tour, she was denied entry to the Qantas business lounge solely because she was wearing UGG wool boots, which were classified as “home pajama wear.” She was even advised by staff to go buy a suitable new pair of shoes.

She questioned how these supposedly unacceptable wool boots could be worn outdoors, and pointed out that she had entered other airport lounges wearing the same snow boots without any issues in the past. In response, Qantas clarified in a statement that they have always had this policy, applying consistent dress guidelines to all passengers, similar to those required by most restaurants and clubs. Additionally, items such as beach shorts, flip-flops, and full gym attire are also considered inappropriate.
