Blue-and-white slippers, a giant bathtub — 100,000 balloons create the Little Yellow Duck dream

The yellow rubber duck officially debuted at the Keelung Harbor Maritime Center on the 21st, while the nearby Keelung Port Authority Building also created the “Lucky Duck,” incorporating up to 100,000 balloons throughout the duck-themed display. The starof the show — a 6-meter-tall yellow duck made from 5,000 balloons— bears a striking resemblance to a real duck, prompting children who have seen the one by the harbor to exclaim, “It’s so lifelike!”

At the entrance of the Keelung Port Authority Building, a rainbow-colored duck made of balloons is highly eye-catching. Then, the design team wrapped the escalator near the second floor with colorful balloons, symbolizing that as people pass through the tunnel, they enter the magical world of ducks. Inside the exhibition area, there’s a super-sized bathtub filled with bubble bath water, making people feel instantly smaller, along with Taiwan-inspired “blue-and-white slippers.” Li Cheng, spokesperson for the Lucky Duck design team, said that once you step into the small bubble room, you can instantly feel like you’ve returned to childhood. He explained that the inspiration for the bubble room comes from the team’s participation in a children’s art competition last year. Combining the concept of childhood fun with Taiwanese cultural elements, they designed an exhibition area full of surprises. During the exhibition period, they will also introduce different themed areas.
